Composition

Picture
If you would like to commission a composition for any purpose - in any style or genre, and for any combination of instruments - please email pitchperfectmusic@live.co.uk with a detailed description of the composition you have in mind, i.e. instrument combination, genre, mood, key, time signature and so on. Please note that while your own - or existing - lyrics may be set to music, they will not be composed.

If the composition is for piano, if you request, you will be sent not only your printable score, but a recording of the piece. If it is for any other instrument or combination, you will be sent a synthesised version as a sample of what it should sound like (although the quality will not be as high as one with genuine instruments). The exceptions to this are vocals (solo or ensemble), which are unable to be recorded for this purpose; however if requested, a piano line can be used in place of a vocal line for the purposes of hearing the melodies and harmonies of the piece.

You can choose to have your music composed using Sibelius software (recommended for publishing and professional use), or Musescore (a slightly cheaper option, still with professional-looking results - recommended for personal and less formal                                                                     use, performances, or those on a budget).

Prices:

I charge per hour of working time. Approximately how long a piece will take to compose is determined by: how many instruments are involved, how detailed the client would like the score to be (level of dynamics, articulation, chord names and so on), the level of instruction versus free will I am given, and any repetition required in the piece. Clients' budgets are taken into account, and I am usually able to work to accommodate these needs.

Sibelius
£35/hour

Musescore
£30/hour

Editing time as a result of a mind change of the client, or lack of clarity in a recording/manuscript:

Sibelius
£20/hour

Musescore
£15/hour
