Richard Stanbrook Dumfriesshire, Scotland (formerly part of the European Union) Composes modern music for various instruments and ensembles Richard Stanbrook was born in Newbury, Berkshire on 10th January 1954. Upon leaving school in 1971, he enlisted in the Army and served with the Royal Corps of Transport Staff Band as a horn player and arranger/copyist. In October 1977, Stanbrook transferred to the Royal Military Academy Band Corps, Sandhurst and was its Music Arranger until expiry of contract in July 1981. Afterwards, he worked primarily in health & social care until mid 2007. Since then, Stanbrook has been, in his own words, "putting his musical house in much-needed order." Stylistically, Richard Stanbrook does not belong to any school or "ism", and eschews modernity for its own sake. The language, whilst tonal, has an uncompromising, no-nonsense directness which some listeners have found disturbing and, at times, macabre. http://soundcloud.com/richard-stanbrook |
